Siemens Energy India to Invest ?2,053 Crore in Madhya Pradesh, Set Up Power Transformer Manufacturing Unit

Bhopal/Ujjain: Madhya Pradesh is set to strengthen its position in the energy equipment manufacturing sector with a major investment by Siemens Energy India Limited. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Tuesday handed over a Letter of Intent (LoI) for 60.49 acres of land in Phase-2 of Vikram Udyogpuri, Ujjain, to the company.

Siemens Energy India has proposed an investment of approximately ₹2,053 crore to establish a high-capacity power transformer manufacturing unit. The project is expected to create employment opportunities for more than 1,500 people.

The LoI was handed over to Siemens Energy India Managing Director and CEO Guilherme Mendonca, Chief Financial Officer Harish Shekhar and Head of Real Estate Puneet Bansal. Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation Managing Director Chandramouli Shukla was also present on the occasion.

Focus on Energy Equipment Manufacturing
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said Madhya Pradesh is rapidly emerging as an attractive investment destination due to its industry-friendly policies, improved connectivity, availability of land and modern industrial infrastructure. He said the state government is committed to providing necessary support for the timely implementation of industrial projects and expansion of employment opportunities. According to the government, the Siemens Energy project will help develop Madhya Pradesh as an emerging hub for energy equipment and electrical infrastructure manufacturing.

High-Capacity Transformers to Meet Growing Demand
The proposed facility will manufacture high-capacity power transformers to support India's expanding electricity infrastructure and transmission networks. It is also expected to contribute to the modernisation of the country's energy sector. The project could generate additional opportunities for ancillary industries, logistics and service providers in the region. It is also expected to boost industrial activity in Phase-2 of Vikram Udyogpuri and strengthen Ujjain's role in the energy equipment manufacturing ecosystem.
