Rescue operations continue unabated in collapsed Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi
Rescue operations are underway on war footing to rescue 41 workers trapped in the collapsed Silkyara Tunnel in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami over the phone today also and took stock of the relief and rescue operations. Prime Minister said it is our top priority to evacuate all the workers safely. To further speed up the rescue operation, a vertical drilling machine reached the incident site from the upper part of the tunnel.
In the meantime, a significant milestone was achieved after an endoscopic flexi camera was successfully ed into the collapsed section. Visuals from the special camera facilitated the first interaction with the trapped workers. . President of the International Tunnel and Underground Sites Association, Arnold Dix is also present at the incident site and said that all the workers will soon be evacuated safely. Rescue workers have succeeded in ing a six-inch pipe inside the tunnel. Through this pipe, essential materials including food, water, oxygen and medicines are being delivered to the trapped laborers inside the tunnel.
