The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for a heatwave expected to affect Bihar and Uttar Pradesh over the next three to four days. This extreme weather alert underscores the imminent risk posed by soaring temperatures in these regions.

Heatwave conditions are anticipated in various pockets across northern and central India. Affected areas include Jammu Division, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and Odisha, with the oppressive heat expected to persist over the next five days.

IMD has provided some respite in its forecast, indicating that conditions are favorable for the Southwest Monsoon to advance further into parts of the north Arabian Sea, Gujarat, and Maharashtra within the next two days.

The alert covers Konkan, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, where these conditions are expected to prevail over the next four to five days. Similar weather patterns are likely to affect most parts of South India.

The Northeast region, along with West Bengal and Sikkim, can expect light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over the coming week, according to the IMD’s forecast.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather advisories.
