PM Modi flags off Dehradun-Delhi Vande Bharat Express
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the inaugural run of the Vande Bharat Express train from Dehradun to Delhi’s Anand Vihar Terminal. He also dedicated to the nation, newly electrified rail sections and declared Uttarakhand a 100% electric traction state.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi congratulated the people of Uttarakhand for the inaugural Vande Bharat Express and said the train will connect the nation’s capital to the Dev Bhoomi of Uttrakhand. He informed that the travel time between the two cities will further be reduced and the onboard facilities will make for a pleasant travel experience.
He said, this train will ensure ‘ease of travel’as well as greater convenience for the citizens of Uttarakhand. He added, India is being looked upon with great hope. The world wanted to come here to see India and understand the essence of the country. In such a situation, there are great opportunities for states like Uttarakhand. Vande Bharat train is also going to help in enjoying the journey to Uttarakhand to the fullest.
Regular service of train number 22458/22457 Dehradun- Anand Vihar Terminal- Dehradun Vande Bharat Express train will start from May 29 in both the directions. Train number 22458 Dehradun- Anand Vihar Terminal Vande Bharat Express train will leave Dehradun at 7.00 am and reach Anand Vihar Terminal at 11.45 am the same day.
While in the return direction, train number 22457 Anand Vihar Terminal- Dehradun Vande Bharat Express train will Depart from Anand Vihar Terminal at 05.50 pm and reach Dehradun at 10.35 pm the same day. This train will stop at Haridwar, Roorkee, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Meerut City stations in both directions en route. It will run six days a week except Wednesday.

Guided by the vision of the Prime Minister of providing cleaner means of public transport, Indian Railways is on a quest to completely electrify rail routes in the country. Moving ahead in this direction, the Prime Minster dedicated the newly electrified rail line sections in Uttarakhand. Trains run by electric traction on the electrified sections will result in an increase in the speed of trains and enhance haulage capacity.
