Oxygen park in Ahmedabad inaugurated, oxygenated air by alleviating pollution levels
To mark World Environment Day, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel laid the foundation stone for the oxygen park at Tragad, Ahmedabad, on Monday, June 5. With the commitment to expand the green cover in the city, the oxygen park has been spread over 24,270 square metres.
The civic government plans to plant 75,000 trees using the ‘Miyawaki’ method, ensuring its environmental impact and contribution to cleaner air. This Japanese concept mimics the way a forest would recolonise itself if humans stepped away. The park will provide visitors with a variety of attractions, like lawn areas, walking trails, and gazebos. Along with specific yoga spots, a public gym will also be put up for fitness enthusiasts.
Earlier in 2022, Thaltej Oxygen Park was inaugurated in Ahmedabad. The park was constructed under the National Clean Air Programme in 4,200 square metres of area near the Hebatpur railway crossing in Thaltej by AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation).
With the consistent growth in urbanization, oxygen parks can be green lungs for cities. It is a concept where a two-layer layout is being used to plant trees. Oxygen Park is a distinctive public area created for health and welfare in a desert environment, drawing inspiration from the essential life force of oxygen.
Oxygen Parks can become centers of health-related activities as they offer cleaner and more oxygenated air. The city-allocated parks and gardens can hold the diversity of flora for their purposes, while such oxygen parks can alleviate the oxygen, temperature, and pollution levels. Concepts like oxygen parks are similar to hybrid green landscape technologies. They are environmentally friendly and incredibly effective and also enable a sustainable ecology to develop around them.
To create a sustainable future for all, India, in its G20 presidency, is sharing ideas to work together and strengthen the sense of trust among the member nations. Initiatives like the creation of Oxygen Parks inspire conservation efforts across the country to circumvent environmental crises and the impacts of climate change.
